The company Collectcamera was founded on 1-4-2000 and is located in Ede, Gelderland.
My name is Theo de Wit. I own this company. I am in the fortunate position that I have been able to turn my hobby into my profession.
In a previous life I worked as a manager in the financial field at KPN Telecom at a time when the customer was still central and integrity was a matter of course.
The company Collectcamera focuses on the purchase and sale of used photo equipment, mainly via the Internet. I specialize in Leica, Rollei and other mechanical photographic equipment.
Is it safe to buy from Collectcamera?
There's a lot of fraud on the Internet. That's why you always take a risk when paying in advance for deliveries. If you don't want to take this risk, you are always welcome in Ede to view the articles before making the decision.
I started this company in the year 2000 as one of the first European companies to sell photographic equipment over the Internet. Since then, thousands of customers have used my services. That's why I have a lot of experience.
What warranties do I have on purchases?
I give a 3 month warranty on hidden defects for equipment not older than 15 years. If, in such a case, you find the equipment not to comply with my description, the defect will be repaired by an expert at my expense. If full recovery within a reasonable period of time is not possible, the full amount will be refunded. If you have incurred any costs in connection with the return shipment, I will also reimburse those costs. For equipment older than 15 years, the warranty does not cover the normal signs of ageing, such as shutter speeds, drives, brightness of the viewfinder image, etc. The description of such articles will describe these aspects as accurately as possible. This way you know what you're buying.
For rare items I guarantee the originality for a period of 1 year. A separate declaration of origin is supplied with the delivery of such collectors' items. Of course I vouch for the originality of the delivered items and you can rely on my knowledge in the matter.
I give no warranty on defects that are reported outside of the warranty period.
I am not a representative dealer of Leica and Rollei equipment. For new equipment I can therefore not give the manufacturer's warranty. For that reason the prices I charge for new equipment are lower than the regular prices you pay at the official dealers.
Do you buy used equipment ?
I like to buy Leica, Rollei and other mechanical photo equipment (cameras, lenses and accessories). We also welcome large or small collections. At your request, I'll come home. Of course you are also very welcome in Ede.
Particularly for the somewhat older equipment, pricing is opaque, especially for people who are not at home in the world of collectors. This is due to the great diversity of equipment. I will never take advantage of any lack of knowledge. I always offer a fair price.
I pay according to your wishes (cash or by bank transfer). I respect your privacy, while ensuring that the identity of the seller remains confidential. If necessary, I may ask you to identify yourself, in particular when the origin of the equipment is not clear.

How does the rating system work?
The article descriptions are in English. All articles have been rated in the "rating" column.
The meaning of the rating code is as follows:
New, unused in the original packaging with papers
Without traces of use, with or without packaging and/or papers
With or without significant traces of use, with or without packaging and/or papers
Very slight traces of use
Less than average traces of use
Average traces of use
More than average traces of use
Damages (dents, scratches, etc.) are always reported. The optical quality of lenses is always indicated.
How much are the shipping costs ?
Only the actual shipping and insurance costs are charged, so there is no surcharge for handling.
Shipping costs depend on several factors and are shown in the various shipping options.
How are the shipments going?
Shipment of the goods takes place on the day of receipt of the purchase price or at the latest the following day. Shipment is carried out using insured transport.
Packaging of the goods is extremely careful and does not give any cause for concern.
In the unlikely event that the shipment is lost, the full purchase price will be refunded upon receipt of the compensation from PostNL or the insurance company.
The chances of lost or damaged shipments are extremely small; so far this has not happened to me in the case of domestic shipments.
The equipment is always delivered with an invoice that meets all legal requirements.

Yes, you can pick up the order at my address in Ede. Please make an appointment via e-mail or telephone +31-318-479103.
Is the postal shipment insured
Yes, the shipment is insured against loss and theft for the full value, including any shipping costs.
How do I place my order
You can order in the following ways:
You add the desired items to your "shopping cart".
Then call up the shopping cart from the menu. Here you see a list of all selected items with their prices and the total amount.
Then go to "Checkout".
Here you can log in to a previously created account or create a new account.
Within the account you define the name and address for the invoice and the delivery address.
Next select your prefered payment and shipping methods, the relevant costs are listed.
The final amount of the invoice is shown at the bottom.
By clicking on "Finish" the order will be recorded and the further processing will be started.
When in doubt please mail or call.
After receiving an order I will contact you within 12 to 24 hours depending on the required steps in the order process.
You will receive an email for each step in the process on our side; you can also log into your account in order to track the progress of your order.
Shipping takes place immediately after payment has been received or after Visa or MasterCard have agreed. You will receive the shipping details by email.
If you order by e-mail the same procedure will be followed.
How are prices indicated
All prices are indicated in Euro (€). For all buyers within the EU, the price is in €.
Prices are exclusive of VAT and shipping costs. For a few items VAT (21%) must be charged. You can find this in the article description. In that case the VAT will be mentioned separately on the invoice and this amount will be deductible for businesses.
The vast majority of the articles are subject to the VAT margin scheme. In which case no VAT will be charged.
For deliveries within the Netherlands there is a surcharge for payments via PayPal (4%).
How can I pay
In principle, equipment is delivered with advance payment.
This can be done by:

- Electronic online payment (iDEAL, credit card, paypal, etc.)

For payments via PayPal there is a surcharge of 4%.
Do I have to pay VAT
The prices mentioned are exclusive of VAT and shipping costs. For a very few items VAT (21%) must be charged. You can find this in the article description. In that case the VAT will be mentioned separately on the invoice and this amount will be deductible for businesses.
The vast majority of the articles are subject to the VAT margin scheme. No VAT will be charged and you will not find the VAT on the margin on the invoice.
Is it safe to give my credit card information
If you make an online payment via your credit card, the payment will be made via your credit card organisation. All security measures are applied to minimise the risk of fraud and abuse.
We do not need, nor have direct access to your credit card details.
How long does it take to ship by post
Obviously this depends greatly on your location.
We ship from The Netherlands.
For a rule of thumb please reckon with the following delivery times:

What happens if the shipment gets lost?
Shipments within the Netherlands via PostNL are automatically insured by PostNL.
If a shipment is lost, PostNL will start an investigation. This will take some time. PostNL finally sends a message about the research results. Payment will then be made.
All other shipments (PostNL abroad or by courier) are fully insured through Nationale Nederlanden. As soon as the results of a lost shipment are known, Nat. Nederlanden will pay out, after which the full purchase price, including shipping costs, will be paid to you.
The chances of lost or damaged shipments are extremely small; so far this has not happened to me in the case of domestic deliveries.
Can I return items because I regret the purchase?
If delivery has been made according to the description, there is no good reason to return goods against refund of the purchase price.
What guarantee do I have if it turns out later that a collector's item proves to be a fake?
For rare items I guarantee the originality for a period of 1 year. Of course I vouch for the originality of the delivered items and you can rely on my expertise in the matter.
